April 2017 Global Politics and Beer with Met Society: DC

Join the Metropolitan Society for International Affairs on April 13 for our second Global Politics & Beer gathering in Washington DC!

We know people have a lot to talk about. Grab a beer and let's talk: Airstrikes, KT McFarland, Venezuelan Supreme Court, South African protests, Wilbur Ross and Peter Navarro, Basque rebels.... it's all on the table.

Our DC-based lead fellow Edmund Ruge will head up this event. Ask your questions, debate your thoughts, and speculate on the future! While your at it, sign up for our mailing list, check out our podcast, and find out how to write for us.

We'll meet at Buffalo Billiards at 6:00pm. Let's get it!

April 2017 Global Politics and Beer with the Met Society - Greek Easter Edition!

It's time again for Global Politics and Beer! This time, with OPEN BAR!

Join The Met Society for our monthly gathering to discuss events and goings-on around the world. This month, we follow Easter Sunday by just a few days, so this one will be all about it. We will be celebrating Greek Easter with an evening of discussion and drinks. There is sure to be lively conversation, and perhaps even some contesting viewpoints. Global Narratives board member Anna Szymanski will be on hand as our "un-panelist" to fill you in on the latest developments in Greek politics, and mingle with you for questions. No stuffy panel discussion here!

You can get your tickets through the Met Society site HERE! Just follow the links and select the April NYC event! We will process your ticket ourselves!

We will be gathering at the beautiful WeWork space in Harlem, located at 8 West 126th Street, starting at 6PM, and sticking around as long as the conversation is animated and engaged. Come join Met Society fellows and researchers for a discussion of the state of Greece in politics, economics and the whole European state of affairs. And then stick around for greek food and fun!

There is a small donation to cover the cost of food, and we strongly encourage you to inquire about joining Met Society's membership program or to make a charitable contribution of your choosing to help us continue to provide programming and events. You register here on EventBrite through paypal, or through Met Society directly!

Great food, and beer will be available to enjoy at the event! Come one, come all and enjoy a fun evening of food, drink, and inspired conversation!

March 2017 Global Politics and Beer: Booz and Nowruz!

Met Society is happy to announce that our monthly Global Politics & Beer event will celebrate the Persian holiday of Nowruz! Come ring in the Vernal equinox with traditional Persian dishes, an open bar and discussion of Iranian affairs more generally. The politics of the Middle East can be a lot less contentious when enjoyed with excellent food and drink. Our Iranian history and politics specialist, Rob Ames, will be on hand to discuss all things Persian.

Differing from our previous events, we will be selling tickets this time around. But the cost covers the great food and beer on tap from WeWork that you will enjoy at the event! Come one, come all and enjoy a fun evening of food, drink and Persian New Year!
