Understanding Geopolitics 101 - Intro to the Global System and Personal Media Habits
Welcome to Understanding Geopolitics 101 - Media Habits & The Basics
We've been told over and over that the world is getting more complex and confusing, and that the media is getting more biased, less insightful and less useful, and we're all talking (or yelling) past each other on social media. But that's not really true. You CAN understand the world, improve your media habits and not feel overwhelmed by every day's political and economic events.
Pundits and self-described experts try to make it seem like there's a secret sauce that only they possess that lets them understand what's going on in the world. But this is a bunch of hocus-pocus. Anyone can learn the basics.
What do we do?
In this 60-minute introduction course, you will learn the most important introductory tools and techniques to begin making sense of the political scene. What's the basic structure of the system? What are the best free media sources? What kinds of analysts to seek out? What to tune in? What to tune out?
Tickets are $35 for the session, which includes drinks and snacks. Please sign up on EventBrite and buy your tickets here. Participation is capped at 15, but sessions are held twice-monthly. More advanced classes will become available according to demand.
